In 1999, the only mention of “vision mapping” online referred to cartography and subjects that had to do with eyesight. Having great vision myself, I embarked on my own vision mapping journey, hence the name Vision Journeys LLC, and Vision Mapping Strategies (c), which began in 1999.
Not to confuse the two terms, Vision Mapping is a strategic process which allows individuals or groups to transfer ideas and thoughts to concrete and specific plans of action. Through discussion, questioning and understanding the larger picture, literally diagrammed on large sheets of easel paper…intentions are clarified and solidified into a specific and achievable plan of action.
Vision Mapping Strategies is an interactive and intuitive process that combines logic and imagination to create a strategic diagram that results in a plan of action for immediate or long-term solutions.
Some people confuse Vision Mapping Strategies with “treasure boards or vision boards.” Vision Mapping is a sophisticated process and does not involve the use of cutting and pasting pictures on paper or cardboard.
Vision Journeys is the name of the company and incorporates Vision Mapping Strategies and/or other coaching venues, such as weekly business or life coaching, retreats, team facilitation and consulting. When I begin the coaching process with a client, I ask if they would like me to combine coaching and consulting, using whatever expertise possible to help them move forward’s. Some clients prefer a strict coaching style and others prefer the combination. Client’s wishes are my first priority and, whatever the decision, I draw from all of my past and present experiences which include:
